A very fine and rare Parisian rain scene by Frederic Marlett Bell-Smith, painted circa 1892.

Titled lower left "Rue St. Germain des Prez, Paris" and signed lower right, "F.M. Bell Smith"

Excellent condition. Framed in gilt with gilt mat.
Frame size 19" x 16"

Frederic Marlett Bell-Smith OSA, RCA was born in London England in 1846 and emigrated to Canada in 1866.

Travelled in Europe and Western Canada throughout his career, his work is influenced by impressionism and his European works, especially the rain and fog scenes in London and Paris are closely assosciated with the work of James McNeill Whistler.
